• Let There Be LIGHT!

  The light source for many headlights and taillights is making a move to come inside motorhomes, fifth wheels and upscale travel trailers.

  Although the first visible-spectrum light-emitting diodes (LEDs) weren’t developed until 1962, today’s LEDs are available in visible, ultraviolet and infrared spectrums, and found in an increasing number of roles, from “on” switches in electronics to fl ashlights to stadium scoreboards.

  Regardless of their use, they have two big advantages over other light sources: Low energy consumption and a longer lifetime than incandescent, fluorescent or halogen bulbs.

  However, they also have some drawbacks. And, while on-going research has created LEDs with a warmer white glow than in the past – along with improved optics to make it more usable – the movement toward these lighting marvels won’t grow to be a flood until the price comes down.
